Greater Rufaa Organization (GRO)

GREATER RUFAA ORGANIZATION (GRO)

Greater Rufaa Organization or GRO is a US-based non-profit volunteer organization registered in the state of Georgia by a group of volunteers from the great city of Rufaa on the east bank of the Blue Nile in Al Jazira state – Sudan who are genuinely concerned about dire conditions prevailing in their beloved city Rufaa and in the surrounding towns and villages. The Greater Rufaa area has a population of more than 100,000 people.

It is worth mentioning that the city of Rufaa is the birth place of Girls Education in the country of Sudan. It is where the FIRST formal elementary school for Sudanese girls ever started back in 1907 by the Founding Father of Education in the Sudan; the late “Grand Teacher” Sheikh Babiker Badri.

Our Achievements

Since it’s founding in 2021, our Organization has achieved remarkable success relying primarily on small donations from individuals and families of the city Rufaa. Our accomplishments speak for themselves;

1- Solving the water shortage in the city caused by interruptions in the grid by installing 14 solar power systems to power water pumps, which made water from Wells accessible to all parts of the city.

2- Providing permanent solar power supply for the ICU at the city General Hospital.

3- Contributing funds raised from the individual donations in addition to providing technical service (Maintenance) to the area’s only Dialysis center.

4- Contributing funding for the relief efforts to feed victims in area displaced by the horrific war that displaced most of the city’s residents.

5- Contributing funds raised from individual donors to replace Solar power panels deliberately targeted and hence damaged by the fighting party that maintained control over the city during the war.
